Army Commander Lt. Gen CKS Sabu presents the Army Commander Polo Cup to the South Western Command Team (R to L) Lt Col Navjit Sandhu, Maj Ravi Rathore, Capt Vishal Chauhan, Capt Arjun Patil. Alo, in the picture is Col. Dev Dahiya, Commandant, 61st Cavalry. The entire week of polo at the 61st Cavalry polo grounds set the stage for a close final. In the semi finals on Saturday Equisport managed to defeat 61st Cavalry in sudden death overtime after both teams scored 7 goals in the regulation 4 chukkers. In the other semi final Jaipur Company kept pace with South Western Command till both had scored 4 goals. However, in the last 2 chukkars SWC moved away with 4 unanswered goals to reach the semi finals. In the final between South Western Command and Equisport, SWC ran ahead and took a quick lead in the first chukker. In the first two chukkers Equisport could only manage one penalty goal scored by Ransher Singh. By the end of the 2nd chukker SWC lead by 6 goals to 1. In the remaining two chukkers SWC only managed to score 1 goal while Equisport added 3 goals to their tally. However, they were too far behind to catch up. Ravi Rathore, Vishal Chauhan and Navjit Sandhu combined perfectly and effortlessly scored goals in the first 2 chukkers. Vishal Chauhan opened the account in the 1st chukker. Ravi Rathore added 2 more, and in the 2nd chukker Vishal Chauhan and Navjit Sandhu scored to increase the lead. For the Runners up Adhiraj Singh, Abhimanu Pathak, Ransher Singh, and Bhupinder Singh all scored a goal.
The final score was 7 - 4 in favour of South Western Command.
